Winter League Merits Finals

The merits finals took place at Dishers with Dave Preece (Dishers C) capturing the title for the first time since 2008 with a convincing 3-0 win over Phil Malam (Dishers A) in the Final, this was after both players had won 21 out 24 matches in the regular season. Phil made the final with a comfortable 3-0 victory against the Division 2 merits champion, Michael Bedson from Rileys B, who had won 14 out of 17 to top Division 2.
However, Dave was a little more fortunate to see off the challenge of Division 2 runner up, Steve Abbott (Rileys XL), by 3 frames to 1 in their semi final.

The League would like to pass on its thanks to Dishers owned by Dave Preece for kindly sponsoring the Winter merits event.

Tim Lindop Memorial Trophy

A new name will appear on the Tim Lindop trophy after Daz Jennings (Dishers B) defeated Simon Malam (Bridge Inn A) by 3 frames to 1 in the Singles knockout final. Despite losing the first frame, Daz put in an outstanding performance to beat the three time former Champion.
It could have been a completely different story when Daz was staring defeat in the face at 2-0 down to Mike Beeston (Bridge Inn A) in their semi final, however, he dug deep and won the deciding frame after a lengthy tactical battle.
The second semi final saw the meeting of fierce sibling rivals Simon and Phil Malam, the reigning Champion, and even though Phil started brilliantly with an 8 ball clearance it was Simon who dominated the match winning 3-1.

Doubles Knockout Finals

It was deja vu at Dishers Pool and Snooker with Mike Beeston and Stu Gregory retaining the Doubles title with a 2-0 victory over Kev Lloyd and Andy Moore in the Final. Beeston and Gregory disposed of the two time Champions Dave Preece and Lyndsey Roberts by 2 frames to1 in the semi finals with Lloyd and Moore beating the Dishers pairing of Lynn Masser and Andy Booth 2-0 in the other semi.

Team Knockout Final

Congratulations go to Dishers C who retained the Team Knockout title with a 4-0 win over Dishers B.
Simon Cope took the first frame for Dishers C with a scrappy win over Alex Hulme, Andy Moore made it 2-0 with a win over Malc Johnston in a frame that could have gone to either side. Dishers C Captain, Dave Preece then made it 3-0 with a comfortable win over Dave Leslie.
Daz Jennings looked to have pulled Dishers B back into the match, however, in potting the black he also potted a red handing the winning frame to Kev Lloyd.
